Millions of visitors flock each year to the warm waters of Clearwater on Florida’s Gulf Coast.
Blessed with a sun-kissed shoreline, Clearwater beckons swimmers, snorkelers, kayakers and fishermen alike. Yes, the ocean may be the main draw; but it’s not the only one. The area is also very famous for its lively arts and theater scene and its world-class marine aquarium.
Clearwater is a moderate-sized city that’s growing; the population approaches about 125,000. But it’s considered part of the greater Tampa metro area, which adds to its numbers some 3 million people or so who make the region their home. Great little neighborhoods to check out include Sand Key, Imperial Cover and Clearwater Point. And you’re always a short drive from fun destinations like Tampa, St. Petersburg, St. Pete Beach and Seminole. Terrific parks are here to explore as well, among them Caladesi Island State Park, Honeymoon Island State Park and the Florida Botanical Gardens.
