There are two things which may come to mind when hearing the name of Colorado’s famous resort community of Telluride:
Skiing and great film and music festivals. But it’s not just about the snow and the arts. This is truly an all-season destination with everything from world-class skiing in the winter to outstanding hiking, biking and river rafting in the summer. Whenever you visit, if you love being outdoors, you will be happy here.
Telluride is the county seat for San Miguel County as well as its most populous city – despite its humble population of just about 2,500. When not exploring the legendary ski runs, hiking trails, winding rivers or film and music festivals, there’s plenty of nearby communities and natural treasures to explore. Consider checking out the three local peaks if you’re into summiting: Mount Sneffels, Mount Eolus, and Mount Wilson. Three national forests are also within reach: San Juan, Rio Grande and Uncompahgre National Forests are all within driving range.
