Laguna Beach Live
What’s better than listening to live music at a relaxing venue? Not much. Since its founding in 2001, the nonprofit group Laguna Beach Live! has been putting on more than 30 concerts every year. The group’s mission is to increase diverse musical experience awareness and participation, while earning Laguna Beach the reputation of being a music town. Moreover, they strongly support music education for children and intend to provide high-quality music experiences to all at affordable prices.
Laguna Beach Live! puts on a number of different concerts annually. These concerts range from Wednesday night jazz concerts, which are held in the summer and winter, to a multi-day festival in February dedicated to classical music. Throughout the year, other concerts feature bluegrass, blues, big band, pop, and gospel music.
Laguna Beach Music Festival
Offered every February, the Laguna Beach Music Festival is a co-presentation of Laguna Beach Live! and the Philharmonic Society of Orange County. The five-day celebration features contemporary and classical concerts at a variety of locations and for a variety of community outreach programs. The 17th annual Festival will be held February 6-10, 2019 at various places around Laguna Beach, including:
- Seven Degrees (891 Laguna Canyon Rd., Laguna Beach).
- The Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall (600 Town Center Dr., Costa Mesa).
- The Samueli Theater (615 Town Center Dr., Cosa Mesa).

The Music Performance Enhancement Program is offered at the four Laguna Beach Schools to inspire student participation.
Live! Music Insights
Live! Music Insights is an exciting, educational program for both music professionals and jazz fans alike During the sessions, you’ll learn all about jazz in an intimate setting with a class limit of 40 so you can ask as many questions as you like. This year, the Live! Music Insights is presented by Music and Jazz Director Laguna Beach Schools Steven Wade and Director of Jazz Studies at Saddleback College Joey Sellars. Together, they talk about the history of jazz, the rules, and techniques of jazz, and how jazz musicians turn their music into onstage magic.

Here, you can enjoy a tribute to incredible women of jazz, including Aretha Franklin, Ella Fitzgerald and more.
Laguna Beach Live! - How it All Came Together
In the year 2000, three Laguna residents — Joe Byrne, Sam Goldstein, and Cindy Prewitt — got together with the desire to increase local support of the arts and offer some really good jazz in Laguna. It started with First Sundays, a free monthly chamber music concert. Eventually, in 2003, the first Laguna Beach Music Festival took place and has been offered ever since.
Today, Laguna Beach Live! is a non-profit organization with the goal of increasing awareness of and participation in diverse musical experiences — all with a side goal of making Laguna Beach the go-to music town. That’s why there are so many high-quality musical offerings that are both accessible and affordable to adults and kids alike.
